Castello di Giotto is an ancient feudal hamlet consisting of the church with it's bell tower dated 1000, the adjacent castle and a small group of houses, a splendid example of medieval architecture.

The castle and the church, both with the severe beauty of a high ranking fortress, where first noted in a document of 1030. Rich in history and legend, the building is enriched by beamed ceilings and sumptuous doorways.

During medieval times the church held jurisdiction over a number of surrounding villages, Vertine, San Donato in Perano and Montegrossi.

The complex is surrounded by vineyards and woods and looks out over a splendid valley, at the center of an area rich in castles and ruins, ancient abbeys and medieval villages.
The castle is composed of rooms and restaurant that cater the guests.

Each of the 25 double rooms and 12 suites, all with air-conditioning, satellite TV and mini bar and hairdryer, offers maximum comfort and a splendid view, either down the valley or into the internal courtyard. On request some of these rooms can be prepared with twin beds.

From the vast grassy terraces guests can enjoy the quiet and beauty of the surrounding countryside.
This is where the swimming pools are situated, one outdoors with a pleasant waterfall, the other indoor and heated during the winter months.

A sauna, a Turkish bath and gym, tennis court and billiard room complete the activities available at the Castle.

A conference room ( max.40 people) is available for company team building, small congress,meeting.
There is an Internet point at the reception.
For horse riders there is the possibility for trekking very close by, while hikers will find an infinite variety of trails in the area around the castle.

A near heliport is available a 100 mt from the reception where helicopters can land.

The castle can be entirely rented and on request it is possible to have a quotation for catering for special occasions such weddings, parties.

The price shown on price list is per one week - bed and breakfast.(exclusive use of entire property)


Apart the castle n.2 suites apartments are available for rent at about 1 km distance in the old village of Vertine. Both apartments are 2+2, composed of a double bedroom and a double sofa bed, bathroom and kitchnette. The apartments can be rented self catering or serviced with afternoon daily cleaning, and guests of the apartments can use the main services at the castle.
