Villa Sassetto is set on 17 acres of rolling meadows and woods, situated 20 km from the historic hill town of Orvieto, in the green heart of Umbria.

Villa Sassetto is a large stone villa recently restored to a high standard for year round comfort.
Set on a plateau 550 meters above Orvieto, and surrounded by 6000 sqm gardens , the house opens on wide terraces and pergolas following onto expansive lawns and mature plantings.

The pool (18 meters to 6 meter) set amongst olive terraces, with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Grass and stone terraces frame the pool and a wide pergola by its side offers shade.

The Villa is ideally situated for visiting the towns and villages of both Tuscany and Umbria. Orvieto's train station, with its fast trains to Rome and Florence, is 30 minutes away. The Via Cassia, the old Roman road ( 10 min. away) takes one to Siena, passing the famous wine centers of Montepulciano and Montalcino, through some of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of Tuscany. One can also visit the towns in Umbria, like Todi, Spoleto and Perugia in a half day trip or day trip as well as the nearest beach is only 90 km distant.

Lake Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Italy with its charming medieval town of Bolsena is 8 km from the house.

The Villa, offer place for up to 12 people is available for rental year round.

The main house offers 6 bedrooms of which 4 are air conditioned. Every bedroom has its own luxury bathroom.
The attached annex, which sleeps an additional 4 people, is occasionally available, per request, in conjunction with the main house at an extra cost.


The downstairs is comprised of an entry patio, leading to the entrance hall, with at its right a sun-filled library with antique fireplace, overlooking the arrival drive. A stone central staircase leads from the hall to the two upper floors. The guest bathroom is accessed from the entrance hall, as is the laundry room with a heavy-duty washer and a dryer. From the hall, wide oak doors lead to the living room, decorated with family antiques and a stone fireplace. Directly adjacent to the living room is the dining room and the all stainless designer kitchen, fully equipped with refrigerator-freezer, dishwasher, and gourmet gas stove with over sized oven and extractor fan; a Whirlpool electric wall oven completes the equipment.

The 6 double bedrooms are located: two on the second floor (master bedroom, second bedroom each with bathrooms) and four rooms on the third, two in the front mansard each with shower baths, and two in the back, each with bathtubs.
